Early in my photography career, I was invited to photograph an incredible West Linn family, at their getaway in Lake Merwin. I remember being so struck by not only the family’s incredible warmth and hospitality but also by the gorgeous scenery at their place.
Flash forward nearly a decade, to when that wonderful family’s daughter – Tenley – joined my Class of 2020 Dream Team and became not only an integral model for my squad; she also joined me as my social media manager. I’ve LOVED this young woman and her family for almost half of her life, and have adored the time we’ve shared together during this past year.
Naturally, when it was time to put together plans for this Wilsonville High School senior’s official session, I absolutely leapt at the opportunity to go back to the family cabin once more. We had an absolutely epic day with the weather, and also with the experience. We hiked down to a waterfall that was tucked deep into some of the thickest and prettiest woods I’ve ever seen – and included traversing some sketchy bridges in the process. After shooting there, Tenley herself drove us to the next spot in the family’s ATV, but not before we almost tipped the entire vehicle over a small ledge! Finally, after shooting by the lake – which was divine – we slipped into a nearby field complete with a gorgeous barn, for some of the prettiest sunset photos ever.
I’m so excited to see what Tenley makes of her next adventure when she heads to Westmont College in Santa Barbara, where she’ll major in business marketing (which I already know she’ll master in no time!). And in the meantime, keep checking my social media feed, cause I know Tenley’s hand will still be in it from time to time.
You know I’ll miss you, Tenley! XOXO
